The brief for this project was to create a welcoming yet sophisticated room for the family to enjoy. The design was to be timeless, smart and cosy. SAAL developed the scheme taking inspiration from a piece of the client’s artwork, an earthy abstract coastal landscape, and the existing Rosso Levanto marble hearth - a slight challenge as this was a feature the client was not fond of, however it had to stay. Our solution was to not ignore the mantelpiece, but rather to integrate it into the design with intention.
Two features of this room are the fully integrated media unit and the built-in shelving and storage unit at the back of the room, complete with lighting. These areas have used back lighting, in the former, and discreet front lighting in the latter.
Room was also left for a large dog bed, in the window area, for the clients poodle to sunbathe.
